We have gotten quite serious about finding a new house. This weekend I spent a lot of time on a spread sheet to make sure that we hadn't forgotten any costs. We have kinda picked a house in a new development area that we are interested in. The only (?) problem are the costs. Filling all those expenses into a spread sheet didn't make my any happier. In fact, the more I have been working on it, the more negative I am getting. The last thing I want is to make my life completely dependent of the mortgage payments. It's not that we are looking at a huge amount, in fact the number is lower than we used to put away before we moved in together, but I want make sure that we are prepared for any bad stuff such as someone loosing their job, or good stuff such as a family extension (DEFINITELY NOT HAPPENING SOON SO DON'T EVEN ASK!!!!). It's scary stuff since we are talking about a long term commitment and I want to make a decision that based on things that could happen in the future.

If one thing has become clear is that Catherine and I value different things. Catherine places a lot of value on the house itself while I am more concerned on the location of the house. I have lived the last 15 years anyway in apartments that did not have bed rooms, so having the 2 bed rooms that we have now is a big luxury. Will be continued for sure...
