I guess I am expecting not to have a lot of 'play' money when the baby comes since I have been spending some money on PC related stuff. I have already mentioned that I got a TV tuner for my computer which I really like. I installed SageTV so my PC is a real PVR system. I also upgraded my monitor. I bought a 21 inch monitor. It's not a fancy LCD one but a CRT. I would have preferred a LCD but I have the desk space and the CRT are in general better. The main reason however was the price. Taxes and shipping included the monitor only costed me 105 dollar. And that for a 21 inch. A LCD equivalent would be a lot more expensive. And let me tell you that 21 inch is huge (of course every women knows that). I have so much real estate. It just doesn't make sense to use a browser full screen. But combined with the TV tuner, I can now watch TV and surf at the same time.
Of course you can also do that when you have a laptop. Guess what, I also bought a laptop :) I didn't like the fact that I would be upstairs a lot in the office when my lady was downstairs. Somebody has to supervise her!!! Plus with the baby on the way, I will probably spend less time upstairs anyway. So I bought a Dell Inspirion 6400 with a fancy cherry wood quick snap cover (I couldn't resist buying that).
