We had some visitors in the back yard during winter as it turned out. With the snow gone, we noticed some strange markings in the grass. No, not crop circles ;)Walking around in the neighbourhood, it turned out we weren't the only ones. In fact, some houses had it a lot worse compared to our 2 spots. We saw houses where the front lawn was completely affected.
We didn't really know what had happened and we thought that might have been damage due to the snow and ice but after talking to some neighbours and doing some research on the web we found that voles are to blame. Voles are also known as meadow mice and they make tunnels through the snow\grass. I guess I need to reseed some areas in the back now....
