The Blog

Thursday July 10, 2008
It's been awhile since I have given an update in this corner of the internet but because of hyves.nl and facebook.com, it is not that I had disappeared completely from the face of the earth. In fact, I think I have never been more in touch with so many people. I think it's really neat to stay up to date with people through these web sites. And I am not even as addicted to these web sites as my mom....

Anyway, last week we went up North again for the annual week at the Smilin' Moose, the cottage that Catherine's family rents once a year. I actually had to work on Monday but thanks to old technology, dial-up, I was able to work from the cottage. But being on dial-up makes me appreciate my fast (= normal) internet connection even more. Boy was it frustrated to be on dial-up again, but it did the job.

The Smilin' Moose was fun. Gained some more weight (really need to start loosing weight, really....) and Mariska loved the beach, that is on the same property. Everyday she want to go there, where she mainly collected water in a bucket and then poured it out again. Over and over again. There were days where she just didn't wanted to go back to the home, resulting in tears of course.

After the Moose, Catherine and the kids continued their journey up North and visited her grandparents, who were with us at the Moose, so that means that I am currently all alone at home which is weird. It was weird to go to the store to buy groceries for the upcoming week. Not that I mind buying groceries or that I never buy groceries. The opposite. I actually like groceries shopping (most of the time) but this time I had to think about what I was going to eat for the rest of the week.

They are planning to come back to Oakville on Monday so I am still going to be on my own for a couple of days. It will especially be weird on the weekend since the evenings this week go by pretty quickly. I had planned to do a lot but it looks like I am just busy with doing all kind of little things.

Obviously I miss my 3 girls and it was heart warming to hear Mariska enthusiastically say "Pappa, pappa" when I called them up. She hasn't forgotten her daddy (yet ;) and I am sure her mommy is missing me as much as I miss her :)

PS Last year Catherine returned home from the Moose pregnant (as we found out a few weeks later) but I guarantee you, well almost guarantee you, that this is not the case this time. ("deep sigh from grandma")
